[Dev Feedback] Console Check-in: What’s Fixed and What’s Next
Dear Pathfinders,
Since launch, we’ve been closely monitoring how Aniimo performs on PS5 and Xbox, and gathering the feedback and suggestions you’ve shared across every channel about your console experience, so we can keep improving it update by update.
With the second half of Season 1, Departure with the Wind, just around the corner, we’d like to share the issues we’ve already fixed, the new console optimizations coming in S1 Part 2, and our plans for console improvements going forward.
I. Fixed Issues & Version 1.1 Optimizations
Many of you on console have run into slow loading, crashes, and freezes that seriously affected your adventures.
We’ve been working hard to improve console stability and performance, and we’ve fixed a number of issues in specific situations—such as using certain Aniimo, opening the chat window, extended battles, and Holo-Battle Interlink—including unstable visuals, slow loading, and crashes caused by excessive memory use.
For the full list of optimizations and fixes, check the in-game announcement.
The upcoming Version 1.1 continues to polish the console experience across settings, UI, and performance, so you can adjust things to suit your play style, and controller play will feel even smoother. Here’s what’s changing:
1. New Settings
- Added a setting to hide your platform-based Online ID, so you can choose whether your platform info is displayed.
- Added a setting to turn off console tutorial prompts, so players who already know the controls can switch them off.
- Added DX12 launch support for the Xbox PC version of Aniimo.
2. Performance Optimizations
- Reduced stuttering and input lag when opening menus on console.
- Reduced frame drops during Operation: Egg Heist.
- Fixed water surface display issues on console.
- Improved loading speed when entering your Home.
- Optimized memory usage on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for better stability.
3. Controller Improvements
- Improved the controller experience on the Appearance screen.
- Refined controller navigation on content-viewing screens for a smoother browsing experience.
- Added controller navigation for rich-text hyperlinks in BINI’s messages, so you can select and open related content with your controller.
- Adjusted how your character’s skills are shown on the radial menu in controller mode, grouping Combat and Mobility skills together so they’re easier to view and select.
- Added two switchable pre-aim camera modes, with the same options now available on console, PC, and mobile, so you can choose the controls you prefer.
- Adjusted the centered layout of controller shortcut prompts and text to make on-screen prompts easier to read. This change is still being finalized, and its release date is to be confirmed.
- Added missing controller shortcuts to some screens, so their features can be used with the matching buttons.
- Map zoom now centers on your cursor position.
II. Upcoming Console Optimization Plans
1. Controller Feel:
Controller feel has always been a hot topic among console players. So far, we’ve fixed some issues with screen focus, buttons, and button combinations, and improved skill aiming and controls on the Appearance screen.
Next, we’ll keep refining the skill wheel, content navigation, aiming, the Snap feature, and Home controls. We’re also rebuilding console vibration feedback with Wwise so that rumble matches in-game events and actions more naturally, and adding support for adaptive triggers.
2. Account Unlinking:
The account unlinking feature many of you have asked about is planned for Season 2. We’ll share details on what’s supported, how it works, and what to watch out for closer to launch.
3. Graphics & Performance:
We plan to add VRS and PSSR support for PS5 Pro to improve both visuals and performance. Support plans for other consoles will be shared in future version announcements.
That’s everything for this console optimization update. Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions. We’ll continue gathering feedback on your gameplay experience and making your console adventures even better.
